Joyce Dinglasan-Panlilio, environmental chemist shares how she uses primary research in her teaching beginning with first year students at the University of Washington Tacoma. She emphasizes the need for students to see themselves as scientists no matter where they are. Dr. Joyce talks about her work with environmental contaminants known to have toxic effects on organisms, and how important it is to engage the community in this research.
